A naming ceremony is a wonderful way to celebrate the arrival of a new baby and for the family to demonstrate their love and commitment to the new member of the family.
This ceremony does not of course have to be just for new babies.
It is also a great way to celebrate or welcome an adopted child or step-children into your family circle.
Children do not have to be babes in arms for this kind of ceremony. People also like to take part in naming their children when they are toddlers, so that they can join in and participate in the events of the day.
All sorts of elements can be included, such as music, singing, poems, readings and parental promises to the child/children and of course the appointment of 'guideparents' or 'mentors'. As always the choice is yours, you can call them whatever you like. Within reason as little ears will be listening of course!
One of the many benefits of have a naming ceremony with a celebrant is that it can take place in your back garden if you so wish. This is great as every one is familiar and comfortable with their surroundings, and there are no time limits or restrictions.
As a celebrant I can also offer other elements to use, such as unity sand, painting and many others.
As with any ceremony the choice is yours and together we will achieve the right tailor made ceremony for the day.
