A celebrant is someone who can write and deliver ceremonies for many different occasions. These can be for weddings, funerals, naming ceremonies and also renewal of vows, and many more!.
Through meeting and talking with you for whichever ceremony it is that you require, will allow me to gather the information needed and then enable me to produce your own personal script for that ceremony.
Creating bespoke and individual writing for different occasions enables me to immerse myself in my love of words. The challenge of creating beautiful, moving and at times humorous and chucklesome scripts gives me enormous enjoyment. While at the same time making the writing unique and tailored to the individual wishes and needs of you the client.
As with most things that I do my approach will be wholehearted and fully committed to doing the best that I can for you.
I had never heard of a celebrant until my eldest son got married. While sitting and talking to relatives at the reception, I learned that the lady that had led the ceremony that day had in fact been a celebrant. This sowed the seed of curiosity and so I looked into it. The more I learned and explored the role and requirements of a celebrant, the more I realised that this was something that I could do. With my experiences it would be something that I would be very good at and would find enormous satisfaction from continuing to help people, just in a different way. I then took the journey of a very thorough learning course with the uksoc, and so my new career was born!
My life experiences have seen both bereavement and celebration at both ends of the scale, and other life changing experiences, enabling me to have empathy and understanding. I had worked in the NHS for over 13 years in various wards and have a natural love of helping people. Being able to give support and encouragement when needed as well as being able to listen and to counsel when it was called for is a privilege I have thoroughly enjoyed. My role has permitted me to help people in all sorts of different ways. At times it has been very sorrowful for various reasons, while at other times it has been joyful. I had been feeling that I needed to have a change but was unsure as to what that could be. I wanted to continue in being there for people for both their best days and their worst, yet was uncertain as to how to achieve that. Then I discovered the term celebrant, and everything changed for the better!
